In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Patience upon Obedience
Kinds of Patience:
Patience is a resistance for the person who is passing on the right path and not being submitted to the prohibited factors as Imam Khamenei (May God protect him) defined. There are three kinds of these factors:
First: The prohibitive factors that lead to skip the obligatory duties.
Second: The incentive factors that impulse people to do prohibited things and commit sins.
Third: Factors that let the person be unstable and doesn't have spiritual firmness.
Hence, we understand deeply the prophetic tradition which the Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) quoted: "Patience is of three: being patience during a misfortune, patience upon obedience, and patience for not committing sins".
Being Patience to Perform the Commandments
Here, we shed the light on the patience, obedience, and performing the commandments. Despite of the divine obligations that were legislated according to the original instinct of the person, and the realistic consistent needs for him, but many people feel bad and discomfort while performing it. Hence, even if those need to be perfect and sublime ones, but at the same time, they want to be comfortable and obtain every think easily.
Imam Khamenei (May God keep him) presents examples concerning this saying: "Prayer doesn't need from the person a lot of time, just few minutes, in addition to leaving the important and unimportant duties, and preparing the clothes and the place; all these things are contrary to the character and the psychological desires. While praying, the person should do difficult steps that need power such as quit on thinking of any thing other than God, praise God Almighty, drive away every thing that let us think with something other than God, all these are necessary conditions for letting your prayer be perfect and affect you."
Imam Khamenei (May God keep him) presents another example which is patience in the battle field and confronting the enemy; he quotes saying: ﴾If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand﴿, hence this verse presents a very essential characteristic for a Muslim struggler person who will not be frightened to do his duty neither by the dazzled swords nor by the enemies' threats, as well as the remembrance of his family and the delighted life will not prevent him from struggling.
Patience in the battle field leads to the divine victory even if the number of strugglers was little, as was stated in the Holy Quran: ﴾How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient﴿. It is stated in another verse: ﴾Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction] ﴿.
Thus, this patience eliminates the enemies' cunning.
God Almighty says: ﴾And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do. ﴿
The Patience Pleasure
Imam Khamenei (May God keep him) had talked about the believers who had knew God's path and His goal; he said concerning this that the bitterness and the pain that results because of the prayers will change into a very nice and sweet thing; in other words, the same prayers which we had mentioned its difficult conditions previously, will become nice and pleasant for those who had tasted its pleasant". Because of this, when the prayers time falls, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his household) used to ask Bilal who calls for the prayers saying: "Oh Bilal. Give rest to us".
On the other side, struggling for the sake of Allah with respect to the people who believes in God like the Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) will infuse life into them, and see this as a way for joy and happiness. Imam Ali says: "While we were in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his household), our fathers, kids, brothers, uncles die, but this increases our believe in God, our acceptance, patience, and our insistence to defend the enemies".
Eventually, all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
