In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

One of the luxuries characteristics which the person likes and seeks to achieve in his life is honor; for this some people refer to achieving it because it involves power, strength, and force such as the tribe and the ones who have power.

The Holy Quran mentioned the honor and insisted that it is exclusively for God in the authenticity and in the ones who are attracted to Him, so God Almighty said: ﴾Those who take disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do they seek with them honor [through power]? But indeed, honor belongs to Allah entirely﴿ (an-nisaa) and God added saying: ﴾And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers…﴿ (al-munafikoon: 8).

The Prophet's family (peace be upon him) insisted that the glory with one other than God leads to doom. Imam Ali (A.S.) mentioned about that the following: "Whom who will consolidate his self, honor will doom him". Besides, Imam Ali (A.S.) mentioned about the secret of the devil's doom that: "the zeal had deceived him, the misery had dominated him, and he was consolidated by the hell's form".

Honor's Obligations

Prophet Mohammad and his family (peace be upon them) mentioned the things that obligate the person's honor in which they called to:

1- Obey God Almighty: It was narrated in the hadith that God revealed to Dawood (A.S.) the following: "O Dawood, I set down the honor to obey Me, but people are asking about it for the sake of the power, because of this they are not achieving it'. The Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali (A.S.) added saying: "If you want honor, then ask about it by obeying God". Another hadith was mentioned in the same field about Imam Jaafar Al-Sadek (A.S.): "Who wants honor without a tribe, a wealth without money, prestige without power, then he will be shift from the humbleness of God's disobedience to the honor of His obedience".

2- Stop the greed of the people: Imam Al-Sadek (A.S.) said: "One of Neeman commandments to his son: If you want to achieve the life's honor, then first you should stop your greed as the prophets and the saints in which this is the reason that had lead them achieve those degrees". Imam Al-Baker (A.S.) uttered: "Asking for the people's needs, is like stealing the honor".

3- Forgive the grievance of people: Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his household) said: "who forgive a person, God will commute it by honor in both the present life and in the hereafter".

4- Contentment: The Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) said: "Contentment is the way to honor". It was mentioned in Imam Ali's speeches the following: "The one who is satisfied, will be honorable, on the other side, the one who is greedy, will be humble".

Islam's Honor

The Families prophet (peace be upon them all) talked about Islam's honor and power; the Commander of the Faithful Ali (A.S.) said: "God Almighty ordered Al-Jihad because it is the Islam's honor". We noticed this very clearly in Islam's history in which jihad was an honor for both Islam and believers. And God humbled the ones who abstained from jihad such as the Koffa people who abstained from jihad with Imam Hussien (A.S.) while the Imam was struggling in Karbalaa with the help of his friends with honor which was manifested by the great martyrdom, in addition to the Hussieni honor in Karbala which originated the honor of the supporters of him who learned the lesson from his son Imam al-Sajjad (A.S.) who said: "Obeying the governors originates honor".

Eventually, all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
