In The Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Parts of Imam Al-Kadhim’s Advises (A.S.)
Occasion: The Birth of Imam Moussa Al-Kadhim (A.S.)
We congratulate Imam Mahdi (May God hasten his appearance) and the Supreme Leader (May God keep him), and the Islamic Nation on the anniversary of the birth of Imam Moussa Bin Jaafar Al-Kadhim (A.S.), the seventh day of the month of Safar. The said blessed day flourished due to the bright light of knowledge and of tender that Imam Al-Kadhim enjoyed since he was born. Abu Hanifa once said that one day he went to the house of Imam Sadeq (A.S.) and found his son Moussa Al-Kadhim (A.S.); he was still a small boy. He asked that small boy a simple question, and his answer was really surprising for Abu Hanifa, what made him ask further deep questions; out of what he was preparing to ask Imam Sadeq (A.S.) about. Thus, Imam Kadhim’s (A.S.) knowledgeable answers astonished Abu Hanifa, who said: "I was satisfied with the answered I took from that small boy and left without even meeting his father Abo Abdullah Al-Sadiq, repeating the saying of Allah Almighty: offspring one of the other; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing".
The life of Imam Kadhim (A.S.) was full of expeditious work in order to guide others, in accordance with the recommendation of his grandfather Prophet Mohammad Al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his household) addressing his grandfather Al-Murtada (A.S.): "O Ali, shall Allah one day guide a man owing to you, is better for you than what this day might be having for you". Consequently, Imam (A.S.) was keen to grab every opportunity to guide the others. Hence, once Imam (A.S.) saw the maid of Bishr nicknamed Al-Hafi (the barefoot) heading off his house and the sounds of singing and entertainment coming out loud; Bishr was of those drowning in immorality and perversion. Imam Kadhim (A.S.) turned to that maid and asked her: "O maid! Is the owner of this house a free person or a slave? She said: a free person. Then, Imam (A.S.) replied: you said the truth if he was a slave he would have feared of his Lord"!
The maid returned to her master shivering and told him what she has heard. This made Bishr go out quickly barefooted and call Imam (A.S.) to declare his repentance before him. Thus, Bishr has then been nicknamed the ascetic Bishr Al-Hafi.
Parts of Imam Al-Kadhim’s Advises (A.S.)
Imam (A.S.) used to advise his compassionates asking them to be polite and to manage their time, saying: "Do your best to make your time divided into four hours: an hour to address God, an hour seeking for the pension, and an hour to interact with the trustworthy Brotherhood- those who do not deceive you and are honest and loyal to you, and an hour for yourself to enjoy your rights shall they not be forbidden; this hour is capable of making you tolerate the rest of three hours. Never think of poverty and longevity, for who thinks of poverty turns out to be an economical person, and who thinks of longevity turns out to be wholehearted. Make yourself lucky in this world by doing what is permitted that does not flaw your personality and/or leads to extravagance, and make this help you on the matters of religion, for it is said that (a man who stays away from life to concentrate only on religion or who stays away from religion to concentrate only on life, is not regarded as one of us)".
He addressed a general guidance for all Muslims, saying: "Experience is sufficient for you to learn. Days are sufficient for you to have expertise. Relationship is sufficient for you to know one’s morality. Recounting death is sufficient for you to face transgression and sin. Thus, I wonder how come those who keep away from food in order not to be affected by a disease do not keep away from sin in order to avoid the fire that is to burn up their bodies".
"Let you never perform a sin that has been forbidden by Allah. Let you never be against Allah’s obey. Let you work hard. Let you never fail to comply with worship; by doing so Allah’s worship will not be well esteemed. Fear Allah and say the accuracy. Even though accuracy might lead you to death, it will make you live on. Fear Allah and avoid inaccuracy. Even though inaccuracy might conduct you to live on, it will lead you to death".
"Do have religious knowledge; for knowledge is the key for insight, fullness of worship, and is the basis for gaining high-level and venerable ranks in religion and in life. A religious scholar is of good worth for the worshiper, in a similar way like the sun is of good worth for the planets. One who does not have religious knowledge; Allah Almighty will not accept every act of worship performed by him".
All praise is due be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
