In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Brotherhood and Love among Believers
Allah said in his holy Quran, ﴾o you men! Surely we have created of a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other; surely the most honorable of you with Allah is the one among you most careful (of his duty); surely Allah is knowing, aware﴿ (Al-Hojourat: 13).
One of the first concerns of the holy Quran was to instill in the hearts of Muslims, the concepts of spiritual brotherhood focusing on his several verses and wise methods.
Brotherhood is mentioned sometimes in the holy Quran as a title based on the relations of faithful people with each other as in his verse, ﴾the believers are but brethren, therefore make peace between your brethren and be careful of (your duty to) Allah that mercy may be had on you﴿ (Al-Hojourat: 10).
And in another he emphasized by the warning factors of division reminding the Islamic grace of brotherhood and friendship after a long ignorant slaughter and rivalry, ﴾and hold fast by the covenant of Allah and be not disunited; and remember the favor of Allah on you when you were enemies, then he united your hearts so by his favor you became brethren﴿ (Al-imran: 103).
In order to strengthen the bonds of love and brotherhood and the creation of social ties among Muslims, Islam emphasizes on the following concepts:
First: directing the feelings of the believers' hearts and minds to the ultimate goal of obedience to God and satisfaction. And make love and hatred, tender, and prevention to God, thus the ties of fraternity and love become closer.
Prophet Mohammad says, "One of the greatest branch of faith is, friendliness of a believer to another to God, thus who loves, hates, gives and prevents for God is from God's sincere".
And Imam Al-Sadek says, "On the day of resurrection, the lovers for God are at pulpits of light, have been known by their illuminated faces, light of their bodies and the light of their pulpits, then it is said: those are the lovers for God".
Also Ali the son of Hussein (A.S.) said, "If God gathered all people, a caller calls loudly among people saying: "Where are lovers for God?" He said: "Then a number of people stand and they are asked to go to paradise without any punishment".
He said, "Angels meet them asking, "Where are you going?" they reply, "To paradise without any punishment". He (A.S.) said, "They ask again, what type of people are you?" They answer, "We are the lovers to God". They ask, "What was your job?" People answer, "We had to love for God and hate for God". Then the angels say, "You have done well".
And Al-Imam Al-Sadek (A.S.) said, "Everyone who doesn't love the religious ones, and hate the ones who apostate from the religion, hence, he has no religion".
About Al-Imam Al-Baker (A.S.), "if you wanted to know that you are a good person, just look to your heart, if he loves the people who obey God and hates the people who do sins, then you are good and God loves you, and if your heart hates people who obey God and loves the people who do sins, then you are not good, God hates you and the person will be near the ones whom he loves."
Second: making desirous among Muslims to get along each other, to ensure for them pride, prosperity, enjoin on each other truth, corporation on land, aiding justice and interdependence in all social, economical and political spheres.
For this, the constitution was: ﴾Mohammad is the apostate of Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against the unbelievers; compassionate among themselves﴿ (Al-Fateh: 29); and the slogan, "Who doesn’t care about the Muslims' issues, he doesn't belong to Muslims".
Third: warning about everything that make parting, hostility, obscenity, backbiting, gossip, betrayal and cheating, according to the principle that the prophet (peace be upon him) has mentioned, "A faithful person is the one who saves others' money and blood, while the Muslim is the one who is peaceful with other Muslims (never talk or hit one of them) and the immigrant is the one who immigrate the abandonment of evil."
Also the prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Oh people, whom you have believed through your tongue, and faith has no place in his heart, never dispraise Muslims, or follow their blemish, because who does that God follows his blemish, and whose blemish is followed by God, he is exposed even in his home".
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the world.
