Preserving the Graces

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Preserving the Graces

God bestowed upon the people many graces which can't be counted; even it became one of the supererogatory performances which is praising God: All praises are due to God, Whom His laudation can't be reached by the speakers, and the counters can't count its graces, but it was considered that thanking the graces is one of the most indications for the person to know the Creator who is the granter to thank Him about His graces. According to this, Islam called to encounter the graces by preserving it; Imam Ali (A.S.) said: "Preserve the graces before losing it; because it vanishes and witness to its owner about what did they do by it". Imam Al-Hadi (A.S.) added saying: "Pay attention to the graces by preserving them". The prophet's family guided to the things that achieves preserving the graces such as:

1- The person shouldn't use the grace to disobey God, in which he uses his eyes to look to forbidden things, his tongue to lie and backbite and reveal forbidden secrets, etc; Imam Ali (A.S.) considered that this matter is the least thing that should be done to reciprocate the grace, so Imam Ali said: "The least thing that you should do is not to use God's graces to disobey him by".

2- The person should do all the performances for God, for example he should sacrifice with the corporeality's power in struggling for the sake of God, and the money grace for performing the juristic right, … and Imam Al-Sadek (A.S.) said: "The graces don't persist just in case we knew what we should do for God".

3- The person should thanks God, and this thank should be welled from noticing that these graces are from God; and the one who doesn't thanks God will fall into the divine punishment which Al-Imam Al-Hussein warned people about, saying, "the punishment of God towards his people is to grant graces and to deny thanks".

4- Economizing and not squandering and lavishing with it, it was mentioned in Al-Hadith: "The one who economized and was satisfied, he will be granted, while the one who squanders and lavishes, he will loose the graces" and being economical while spending the graces, is considered from the rescuers as was mentioned about Imam Al-Baker (A.S.): "Fearing God secretly and publicity is one of the rescuers, and being moderate in richness and poverty, and being just in all the situations whether while being satisfied or annoyed". On the other side, God had forbidden squandering and lavishing in the graces, in He said in the Holy Quran: And give to the near of kin his due and (to) the needy and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully * Surely the squanderers are the fellows of the Shaitans and the Shaitan is ever ungrateful to his Lord﴿ (Al-Israa:26-27), and He said also: eat of its fruit when it bears fruit, and pay the due of it on the day of its reaping, and do not act extravagantly; surely He does not love the extravagant﴿.

Moreover, it was said about the difference between squandering and lavishing in reciprocating the God's graces the following: Squandering means to spend with inappropriate way, and for things that are not important, such as burning money, and impairing food that could benefited from it. As for lavishing, it means to spend money excessively about things that are not important; many believers are afflicted with this during their life whether in their food or in other things, not just this but also it was mentioned in the story about Imam Al-Sadek (A.S.): "God specify a monarch to write the squander of water while performing ablution". Besides, a group of scholars talked about lavishing in which it is considered one of the sins even if this was related to his private money as some mentioned in the Book "Explaining the Forty Hadith" (Shareh Al-Arbaeen) for Sheikh Al-Bahaey when he stated the sins, so he said: the tenth one is: Lavishing your own money in which he means to spend your money excessively in things that you don't need".

This becomes difficult when the matter is related to the general money, or as it is called nowadays the work's money, and this is known through the Commander of the Faithful biography who was adhere not to spend the general money, and to pay well attention about benefiting from it, even it was mentioned that he wrote to his workers: "Pound your pencils, and be close to each others, and don't do spaces between your lines, and don't write about me too much, just write the exact meanings without excessive, because the Muslim's money don't bear to be damaging".
All praise id due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
