Mosque between God's hospitality and the turn of the people

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Mosque Week

The mosque is the purified place God ascribed to Himself among other places; The Most Glorified and Reverent God says as is related by The Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household), "Mosques are My Houses on earth, so blessed be he who has ablution at his house and then visits Me in My House, for The Host is going to honor the guest."

The Forms of the divine hospitality

1- The honor of the visitors of the mosques starts from the first step; The Noblest Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household), "He who walks to any of God’s mosques is granted with every step till he is back home the reward of ten good deeds, forgiven ten bad ones, and raised ten steps in heaven."

2- The divine hospitality continues while sitting in the mosque; The Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household) tells Abou Thar, "As long as you are sitting in the mosque, God grants you with every breath you take a step in heaven and the angels bestow prayers upon you."

3- And this divine hospitality greatens when praying in the mosque in that the praying place will be a good witness for the prayer in The Day of Judgment; Imam Al-Sadik (A.S.) said, "Pray in different spots of mosques, for each spot bears witness for the prayer in The Day of Judgment."

The Role of the Mosque

The great reward, of which we’ve just mentioned a little, is due to the great role played by the mosque in man's life and his society. The mosque is:

1- The Abode of the Qur’an: The Greatest Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household) said, "Mosques were erected for the Qur’an."

2- The Abode of Praying and Supplication: Imam Al-Sadik (God’s peace bestowed upon him) said, "You’ve to go to mosques, for they are God’s Houses on earth…So pray and supplicate there abundantly."

3- The Abode of Learning: The Noblest Prophet (Gods’ prayers bestowed upon him and his Household) said, "He who goes to the mosque only to learn or to teach something beneficial is granted the reward of a complete pilgrimage."

4- The Abode of Brotherhood: Imam Al-Sadik (God’s peace bestowed upon him) said, "He who constantly goes to the mosque is to come back with at least one of three: a brother benefiting him for the sake of pleasing God…"

5- The Abode of Political Awareness: The Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household) used to use the mosque to induce political awareness in the Muslims; and the Muslims’ Authority Imam Al-Khomeini (May his secret be sacred) said about this, "The mosque is the center of political meetings."

6- The Abode of Defending the Muslims: the Muslims headed by The Prophet (God’s prayers bestowed upon him and his Household) used to set forth from it to defend Islam; Imam Al-Khomeini (May his secret be sacred) said about this, "The mosque is one of the trenches for defending Islam, and the niche is one of war’s spots."

Therefore, the mosque is the starting point for the resistants defending Islam and preparing for the city of The Master of This Time (May God hasten his honorable revelation). Many pious martyrs have graduated from the mosques after having enlivened them in their hearts, so they (the mosques) enlivened their (the martyrs’) hearts.

From here, Imam Al-Khomeini (May his secret be sacred) emphasized the importance of mosques, "Keeping mosques is one of the elements on which the presence of Islam depends today," and "Do not desert the mosques: it is a responsibility with which you are charged."

Eventually, all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
