Sources of Grief

Greed of what people have, committing sins, strong desire in the pleasures of this world, envy, default to perform duties.

Treatment of Grief

Strong belief that everything happens as destined by Allah, assuredness of the means of sustenance enumerated by Allah, patience with respect to what Allah Most High has willed, preservation of the tongue, remembrance of what one has done for the sake of the Hereafter, regret of what one hasn’t done for the Hereafter (in order to make one more inclined to make good deeds), refraining from sadness for of what has been missed, faith that things we didn’t get are not part of our means of sustenance, hence they are not useful in the future, there are things which we will never get save when the time is ripe for them, an assumption should be made that what we didn’t get should never occur to our minds, crying over spilt milk is futile, often say: “No power and no strength save by the grace of Allah” as it is a cure for more than ninety nine disease the least of which is worry, it is a treasure of Heaven, often ask the forgiveness of Allah day and night, eat grapes (especially the black ones), keep your clothes clean, keep you hair clean, know there is ease after every hardship.
