The Holy Quran is a divine book, a revelation, words of God and believers’ book
of guidance and direction.
This book is so valuable and magnificent that it was the last Prophet who had
the responsibility of expressing and explaining it, and after him, his holy
household who were introduced as Quran’s exegetes took this crucial
responsibility. Imam Rida (A.S.) who was one of those true exegetes of Quran who
paid a very special attention to this great book of guidance during his blessed
life. Not only did he apply it in his personal life but also he relied on this
book in other aspects of his life and transferred its lessons to others too.
This article is going to illustrate only part of Imam Rida’s reliance on the
Quran in his life.
Imam Rida’s Strong Love for Quran
Imam Rida’s strong love for the holy book, Quran, made him benefit from it first
in his personal life. Neither time nor place, nor the day or the night hindered
his reliance on the Quran. For instance: He completed reading of the entire
Quran every three days.
Abuzokwan has described Imam Rida’s strong love for Quran as such:
Imam Rida completed the reading of the entire Holy Quran every three days and
then he said: "if I want to complete reading the Quran sooner than three
days, I can do so, but I don’t want to do so since while reading the Quran, I am
thinking about each verse I am reading to understand the time and reason of the
revelation of each verse. So, every three days, I finish reading the entire
Quran."
