Q: It is common among Muslims that they give ghusl to all their dead
except the martyr who is killed in the war with the Imam (a.) or his specific
representative or while defending Islam provided that he dies in the battle
field before the war is over or shortly after that and no Muslim finds him
stable.
Our question: Is giving ghusl to a martyr allowed? And if he has been given
ghusl, what is the ruling to be applied here?
A: A martyr is not given ghusl, i.e. one should not give ghusl to a
martyr and not that it is allowed not to give him ghusl. Therefore, giving ghusl
to a martyr is not permissible. However, if one has done so, no ruling applies.
