Prophets who preceded the last prophet and messenger Mohammad (pbuh) have brought good news about the holy Mohammad’s message.
The holy Quran mentioned that saying: ?Remember? when Allah made a covenant with the prophets, ?saying,? “Now that I have given you the Book and wisdom, if there comes to you a messenger1 confirming what you have, you must believe in him and support him.” He added, “Do you affirm this covenant and accept this commitment?” They said, “Yes, we do.” Allah said, “Then bear witness, and I too am a Witness.”[1]
If this verse reveals a complete and general origin, then it’s the necessity of proofing the abidance of the previous prophets to the following ones; however, the holy messenger of Islam is the complete proof of that.
It is clear in this verse that God almighty took an affirmed covenant from all prophets or people of shariah (legislation) to believe in the message of the prophet Mohammad (pbuh), and call their followers to believe in him, follow him, and defend him.
Narrated by Al Fakher Al Razi, The Prince of Believers says: ”God almighty didn’t create Adam (pbuh) and one believer of the following prophets (peace be upon them) until he took from them an affirmed vow to believe in Mohammad and defend him. 2
What affirms this is that the Quran called the people of the Book to reveal what they read and found in their books about the messenger of Islam, without hiding it. There is a group of verses that authorizes the issue:
God almighty says: (And remember Allah took a covenant from the People of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made! ([3]).
God almighty says: (Those who conceal Allah's revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty). 4
God almighty says: (Those to whom We gave the Book know him (Prophet Muhammad) as they know their own sons. But a party of them conceal the truth while they know) 5.
He almighty says: (They are? the ones who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whose description they find in their Torah and the Gospel.1 He commands them to do good and forbids them from evil, permits for them what is lawful and forbids to them what is impure, and relieves them from their burdens and the shackles that bound them. ?Only? those who believe in him, honour and support him, and follow the light sent down to him will be successful). 6
The holy Quran clarifies that Jesus (pbuh) has told his people about the messenger of Islam and his message where God almighty says: (And (remember) when 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad. But when he (Ahmad i.e. Muhammad SAW) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic). 7
The holy Quran also talks about the people of the Book who disguised the message of the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him when he was resurrected, those who were calling for him and seeking his help against their enemies. God almighty says: (And whenever there came unto them a revelation from God, confirming the truth already in their possession-and [bear in mind that] aforetime they used to pray for victory over those who were bent on denying the truth: whenever there came unto them something which they recognized [as the truth], they would deny it. The curse of Allah is on disbelievers).8
The holy Quran also tells us that when Ibrahim (pbuh) brought his wife and son Ismael to Makkah, he prayed for his God saying: (Our Lord! send amongst them an Messenger of their own, who shall rehearse Thy Signs to them and instruct them in scripture and wisdom, and sanctify them: For Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise). 9
The messenger of God peace be upon him and his family was characterized by these traits where the holy Quran describes him saying: (Allah did confer a great favour on the believers when He sent among them an apostle from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom, while, before that, they had been in manifest error). 10
