Trusting in God and Being Supported with Having Victory Over Enemies

Social Ethics

God exalted says:”It is out of Allah’s mercy that you ˹O Prophet˺ have been lenient with them. Had you been cruel or hard-hearted,

God exalted says:”It is out of Allah’s mercy that you ?O Prophet? have been lenient with them. Had you been cruel or hard-hearted, they would have certainly abandoned you. So pardon them, ask Allah’s forgiveness for them, and consult with them in ?conducting? matters. Once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him”. 1

The important idea that the previous sentence refers to, “once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah” means that making the final decision must be accompanied by reliance on God. It means that you must ask for help from God, the Absolute One, and do not forget him while you are preparing the normal reasons and materialistic means for the affair. However, trusting in God does not mean at all that a person ignores the material causes and the ordinary means of victory, which God Almighty made in the world of matter, and enabled man to adopt them. It was narrated that the prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said to a Bedouin that visited him and left his camel alone in the desert without straping it in order not to run far or be lost, believing that this is trusting in God. The true behavior is to“strap it and trust in God”. Yes, this wrong understanding isn’t the aim of trusting in God, but the aim is not to limit a man in this materialistic life, with his limited abilities, so that he doesn’t move forward. He should have hope, beside taking the material causes into consideration, in God’s caring, security, love, and blessings. There is no doubt that this idea gives a man a high psychological stability and an effective spiritual energy that diminishes all difficulties and hardships, damages all difficult problems, and discolate all horrors. In addition, God, glorified and exalted, commands believers at the end of the verse to trust in God almighty because God loves who trusts him, where he says: Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him. Hence, we benefit from this verse that trusting in God should be after consulting and surely benefiting from all the potentials provided for a man.

The Result and Effectof Trusting in God:
After God, glorified and exalted, encourages His servants to trust in Him, he shows, in this verse which completes the previous one, the result, effect, and great benefit of trusting in him: If Allah assists you, then there is none that can overcome you, and if He forsakes you, who is there then that can assist you after Him? And on Allah should the believers rely. This shows that God’s ability is above all abilities so if he wants goodness, victory, support, and defense, then there is no power on Earth, however great it is, that can defeat him. So, you should trust Him and ask Him for His help, he who is the source of all victories. So this verse includes encouraging the believers to trust in God and his ability that cannot be defeated, in addition to preparing all the materialistic means and normal causes. The content in the previous verse is guided to the Prophet Mohammad himself (pbuh) and it is a command for him. But in this verse it is guided to all of the believers as if saying for them: in God believers should put their trust. It is not hidden that God’s support for believers or not supporting them isn’t with no account, but it is provided according to their capacities for that. Then, he who ignores God’s teaching, be inattentive of the materialistic and moral essentials, and failed to prepare the necessary normal forces would not be embraced with divine support at all, unlike those who prepared to confront the enemies with tight ranks, pure intentions and firm determinations, preparing all the necessary means for confrontation, then God’s support will embrace these, and God’s hand will be with them until victory is achieved.
