Sending Blessing to Mohammad and his Family in Supplication

The most important point in supplication, after thanking God and praising Him, is sending blessings to Mohammad and his family, the guardians of muslims. Sending blessings for them takes a very wide area of supplication where many Islamic texts have affirmed and concentrated on it. God almighty wants to make supplication a way to connect muslims with their guardians and seek the protection of their obedience which God has made a guardianship for Muslims; this is the reason behind giving great importance to these blessings. These blessings are the best reasons for this spiritual connection where the links of obedience are expended between God and his servants, this obedience is one of the most important links.

Obedience to God’s messenger (pbuh) is an extension to obedience to God, and the obedience to the prophet’s family (peace be upon them) is an extension to the obedience to the prophet. Insisting on this obedience and making it deep is an insistence on obedience to God and making it deep. It is a wide door of knowledge that we cannot limit by this issue and talk about as much as it deserves. May God almighty help me talk about this important and sensitive point in the Islamic culture and in creating a new Islamic nation.

A long insistence and eloquent affirmation were mentioned in many Islamic texts that we will mention the following from them:
The greatest of them is a part of God’s book:
“Allah and His angels send blessings to the Prophet. O you who believe, call for blessings on him, and for greetings of peace”. 1

It was narrated by God’s prophet (pbuh):” Sending blessings to me is a light on Al Sirat (the Straight Path)”. 2

And he (pbuh) said:” the most greedy man is he who hears my name and doesn’t send blessings to me”. 3

Abdallah bin Na’im said:” I said to Abi Abdallah Al Hussein (pbuh): I entered the house and didn’t make any supplication except sending blessings to Mohammad and his family. So he said: no one got better than what you had gotten.

Al Imam Al Baker and Al Imam Al Sadek peace be upon them said:” Sending blessings to the Prophet and his family is the heaviest on the scale on the Judgment Day”. 4

The Commander of the Faithful (pbuh) in Al Sharif sermon in Nahj-Al Balagha said:
“If you want to ask God almighty a need, start with sending blessings on the Prophet and his family because God is more generous than to be asked for two needs and only answer one of them”. 5
And supplicate for the prophets, messengers, and their guardians from this dou’a.

Sending blessings and peace to prophets and their guardians in general, or identification, specifying, and naming were mentioned many times in the texts of supplications narrated by the prophet’s family such as the supplication mentioned in the “Deed of Em Daoud” in the white days of the month of Rajab, which is a supplication narrated by Al Imam Al Sadek.

An example of sending blessings to Mohammad and his family:
It is one of the supplications of Al Sahifa Al Sajjadiyya:” O God, send the best of your blessings to Mohammad, the blessed, the selected (Al Mustafa), the honored, and the close to you, and have the best pleasurable mercy on him.

O God, send to Mohammad and his family, a pure blessing that no blessing is purer than it. Send him a complete blessing, that no blessing is more complete than it. Send him a satisfied blessing that no blessing is above it. O God send Mohammad and his family a blessing that satisfies him and makes him more satisfied. Send him a blessing that satisfies You and makes You more satisfied. Send him a blessing that we don’t accept less than it, which You see that no one deserves it except him.. O God send Mohammad and his family a blessing that regulates the blessings of your angels, prophets, messengers, and people of your obedience.

Supplication of Ahl Al Bayt (peace be upon them), His Eminence Al Shaikh Mohammad Mahdi Al Asfi (may God send his mercy on him)
